The largest motorbike manufacturer in Indonesia, Astra Honda Motor (
AHM
), considers the government’s helping hand in the form of incentives for the purchase of electric motorbikes in the country to be a positive step.
According to Ahmad Muhibbuddin, General Manager of Corporate Communication at AHM, this policy is worth waiting for to be implemented again, because it can have a positive impact on not only consumers but also producers.
“Yes, for us, we are in a waiting position. Waiting for the incentives because after all the incentives are meaningful for consumers, for producers too,” said Muhibbuddin in Jakarta, Friday (10/10).

He said that through the implementation of incentives, the price of electric motorbikes in Indonesia has become more affordable. This is said to increase people’s interest in buying or switching from conventional motorbikes to electric motorbikes.
Honda itself chose to provide its own ‘incentive’ to consumers in the form of discounts on electric motorbikes whose value could reach tens of millions of rupiah.

“Because that could be one of the factors that drives people’s interest or desire to buy electric motorbikes. So we are waiting in this position,” he said.

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, has opened his voice regarding the incentive policy which to date has not been disbursed.
Previously, this incentive was given to the public in 2024 with a nominal value of IDR 7 million per unit, but the quota was used up in October 2024 and until now there is no certainty whether it will continue or not.
Airlangga explained that this incentive policy needs to be discussed further because it is related to the budgeting mechanism.
“Yes, it’s technical rather than budgeting,” said Airlangga when met by journalists in Karawang, West Java, Thursday (9/10).
He estimates that the realization of the electric motorbike incentive policy will probably be carried out next year, because until now it has not been discussed even though 2025 is almost over.
“Next year, it hasn’t been discussed yet,” said Airlangga briefly.
