“I also apologize in advance if the pivot will be long,” said Zeng Shuo, President Director of Chery Group Indonesia in Jakarta, Monday (3/11).
The J5 EV is Jaecoo’s first electric car launched in Indonesia.This product is offered at a price of IDR 249.9 million and IDR 299.9 million for the first thousand buyers. This price is quite affordable for an electric SUV, even cheaper than its twins, namely the Chery E5 Pure IDR 369.9 million and the E5 IDR 399.9 million.

According to Zeng, the waiting period or pivot for consumers is because the number of car orders continues to increase.On the one hand, the J5 EV has to go through a production process which takes more time than the company importing it as a whole or CBU.
The car was assembled at Handal Indonesia Motor’s partner factory and claims to have used 40 percent TKDN.
“We assemble everything in Indonesia, we have a longer time for production. But it’s not as easy as sending CBU directly,” he said.
He did not elaborate further on the waiting period for the J5 EV, but the company promised to fulfill orders immediately so that consumers could receive the units quickly.
“But we will adjust quickly, if we see there is demand from the market. We will definitely try to give consumers cars as soon as possible, we also don’t expect consumers to wait too long,” said Zeng.
Zeng continued that production of the J5 EV has started.Consumers who have already signed the Vehicle Order Letter (SPK) are certain to receive the unit as early as this month.He also claims that Jaecoo has pocketed hundreds of SPK units of this model.
“This month (starting deliveries), you have started production, you have started going to consumers,” said Zeng.
