Motor Corporation is serious about developing alternative Biofuel energy in Indonesia which can reduce dependence on imported fossil energy, and to support the energy transition target towards low emissions.
President of the Carbon Neutral Engineering Development Center Keiji Kaita said the company is currently developing non-food-based bioethanol-based biofuels in Indonesia.
According to Kaita, his party has collaborated with the state-owned company Pertamina in this research, precisely to support the target of using E10 which was approved by President Prabowo some time ago.

“Currently, we may be studying it using sorghum. Maybe it’s leftover sugar cane juice, maybe it’s also corn stalks or leaves that farmers throw away,” said Kaita on the sidelines of the Toyota Global Workshop, in Tokyo, Japan, Friday (31/10).
“We have also collaborated with Pertamina,” he said later.

As previously reported, all gasoline-type fuel marketed in Indonesia will have an ethanol content of 10 percent (E10) starting next year.
This policy is to realize national energy independence while reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels.
“Next year we plan to start using premium or mixed gasoline, 10 percent, 10 percent ethanol or methanol,” said Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan in Jakarta, Wednesday (15/10).
“We must be self-sufficient in the energy sector. This is Mr. Bahlil, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, who has announced that next year we will fully use biofuel. Therefore, next year Indonesia is trying, pursuing, targeting no more imports,” said Zulhas later.
Biofuel is considered a solution to reduce imports of fuel oil, the value of which continues to increase from year to year due to domestic fuel consumption increasing beyond domestic production capabilities. Conditions due to growth in the transportation and industrial sectors.
One country that has been very successful in making bioethanol the main support for energy needs for transportation is Brazil.
Masahiko Maeda, Chief Executive Officer of Asia Region and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of China Region, Toyota Motor Corporation explained that Brazil’s success has the potential to be applied in various countries including Indonesia.
“I hope that Indonesia, apart from continuing to develop biodiesel, can also produce and supply better bioethanol. If the current enthusiasm and progress of the Indonesian government continues, this country can create a very competitive energy environment,” said Maeda.
